Whenever we go to a fancy Italian restaurant and they give you a little bowl of olive oil with fresh ground pepper, herbs and roasted garlic swimming around on the bottom to dip your bread into, my father, mother and I are usually the ones quietly and calmly fighting for the chunk of succulent breath freshener. My dad usually wins, and my mother usually gets mad at him. And secretly, deep down inside, I die a little because I REALLY wanted that piece of roasted garlic.
Well, who knew making roasted garlic was actually REALLY easy?! So easy in fact that it only takes a few simple steps. So simple in fact, that I can tell you how to do it in only one sentence.
All you have to do is cut the tips off of the garlic head, peel away the outside excess skin, douse in a couple tablespoons of olive oil, let sit for 10 minutes, cover in tinfoil and pop in a 375 degree oven for 45 minutes.
Or, you can use a garlic roaster. Same thing, you just do not need to cover in tin foil. EASY!
Dine "IN" on your favorite dinnerware. Now, there's no need to wrestle over the roasted garlic! Make your own dipping oil by combining olive oil, whole cloves of roasted garlic, a few tablespoons of balsamic vinegar, grated Parmesan cheese, oregano and a dash of salt and ground pepper. Or use the roasted garlic in your cooking, to spread on bread, or to eat clove by clove in ecstasy.
Hosting just took on a whole new level of sophistication!
Make it yours!
